Have you asked something very expensive from your husband, friend, boyfriend or parents? Pretty hard huh? Yes, this is hard because we're kind of unsure whether it will be given to us or not. Rejection is hard to swallow. Most of the time, we have this kind of thinking towards God. When we pray, sometimes it translates to having unbelief. There is a hint of uncertainty in our prayer that God might want to give it or not.
Some of our prayers is about finances and this is where our prayers become weaker. We live in the world where resources are just everywhere. Institutions like banks can help us with this for a price. An interest of 3.5% monthly is whopping 42% for a year. However, in Malachi 3:10 it is written, "Bring the whole tithe to the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." See! Our Lord God is challenging us to test Him on this. He wants us to trust Him for He does best in this but we rather do things our way to make it convenient for us. Our God's business is not like this world's.
I am human and imperfect, we all are. We stumble, worry and sometimes have unbelief here and there. The past two weeks were a test of faith for me. I can see and feel that the people around me worry because of the current situation but God wants me to be still and be in all anticipation of His great work for me. I even once battled this out with Him and confessed about what I am seeing (as if He wouldn't...hehehe) that it is the reason why I worry. A lot of times I felt I struggled so much that if not for them, I wouldn't bother to have time to seek more of Him. Til one day I was watching Joyce Meyer and quoted a verse from the Bible saying that everything that does not come from faith is sin. (Romans 14:23b). Ouch! That hurts. Truly, His Word will convict us; it's like a double edged sword. This is a painful rebuke for anyone who believes and loves God. We read the good news, share it, have our quiet moments with Him still, sin kicks in. Go back to Him and repent about our unbelief of His power. He became poor so we become rich. He became sin so we can have salvation.
He said in John 14:13-14, "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask anything in My Name and I will do it." This is a solid promise. A rock. Immovable. Sturdy ground. Strong foundation. Jesus is telling you to ask ANYTHING in His Name and it shall be given to you. Be bold in your prayers after all, we are His children. But lemme tell ya my brotha, there is an element of time here and I am talking about God's time not ours. His answers can be YES, NO or WAIT UP. In James 4:3 He said, "When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." Check our hearts and see what's in it that backs up our prayers. He may be a God of blessings and provisions but we must not forget that he also is a just God. A lot of times we are asked to wait a lil more for His plans are greater than ours so be patient. Let our flesh not get in the way so His blessings may be experienced in full. I encourage all of us to rekindle the relationship we once had with God and see how He will store so much for us that we will not have room enough for it. Let God be in control. Let Him be God above us all. Pray with boldness and patiently wait in all anticipation of His great plans for us.
God bless us all.
