[Poem] Subtle roar

There I was sitting
At one corner doing nothing
With eyes pinned on the wall
Feeling lonely over all.

Thoughts run through my head
Where I let my heart just bled.
This pain I have I couldn't bear
Like a body left there laid bare.

In silence I heard a soft sound
Hearing whisper as I look around.
In my stillness, it became clearer
And saw an angel, His message bearer.

He opened his mouth and spoke
Hearing words prophesying, I then choke.
Every word hit me like a dart
Speaking the truth straight to my heart.

I was lower than low
Drowned deep down below
But all Your words I hear
Brought me closer to You and near.

You are the way, the truth and the life.
Your Word cuts through like a knife.
Clothe love in me, consume me,
Come near me, speak to me.

[Poem] Out from the gut

Morning sun shines the night passed
Of the same light that tucks you to sleep tight.
As I get through the day and wait for Mr. Moon
Thoughts of life just got me so swooned.

How opposite lives can be
Like I am here and there is Thee.
The future the mind has conceived
Are plainly just a make believe.

The night sky is ebony
Studded with stars so glittery.
Moon lit the serene water
As tears show like spilling from the gutter.

I am alone on my own
Travelling roads of the unknown
Blindly, there steps I took
Image bruised at the mirror I look.

Why the sudden feeling arouse
Like a newly put up and painted house?
A faith deeply founded on a Rock
With promises that no one can mock.

A grin I give like a crack on the face
As I bow my head in deep solace.
You spoke to me, to my heart it pierced
You etched Your love in my heart that grieved.

You are always on time
Just before I slid in slime.
A planned destiny You prepped for me
Even before I was knit in mom's tummy.

This walk ain't easy as I thought
For trials arise this world has brought.
Storm proof life surely You promised
To enjoy provisions and not be missed.

GOD is...

Exodus 34:5-7 NIV) Then the LORD came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the LORD. {6} And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, {7} maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."

(Numbers 23:19 NIV) God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

(Deuteronomy 3:24 NIV) "O Sovereign LORD, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and your strong hand. For what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and mighty works you do?

(Deuteronomy 4:24 NIV) For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.

(Deuteronomy 4:31 NIV) For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath.

(Deuteronomy 6:4-5 NIV) Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. {5} Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

(Deuteronomy 10:17 NIV) For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.

(Deuteronomy 20:1 NIV) When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you.

(Deuteronomy 20:4 NIV) For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory."

(Deuteronomy 33:27 NIV) The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, 'Destroy him!'

(Joshua 1:8-9 NIV) Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. {9} Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

(Joshua 23:3 NIV) You yourselves have seen everything the LORD your God has done to all these nations for your sake; it was the LORD your God who fought for you.

(2 Samuel 22:32-34 NIV) For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? {33} It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. {34} He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.

(2 Chronicles 30:9 NIV) If you return to the LORD, then your brothers and your children will be shown compassion by their captors and will come back to this land, for the LORD your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him."

(Ezra 8:22 NIV) I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, because we had told the king, "The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him, but his great anger is against all who forsake him."

(Psalms 10:4 NIV) In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

(Psalms 33:11-13 NIV) But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. {12} Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance. {13} From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind;

(Psalms 37:30-31 NIV) The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just. {31} The law of his God is in his heart; his feet do not slip.

(Psalms 46:1-2 NIV) For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth. A song. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. {2} Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

(Psalms 46:4-5 NIV) There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. {5} God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.

(Psalms 48:14 NIV) For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.

(Psalms 50:6 NIV) And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for God himself is judge. Selah

(Psalms 54:4 NIV) Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.

(Psalms 59:9-10 NIV) O my Strength, I watch for you; you, O God, are my fortress, {10} my loving God. God will go before me and will let me gloat over those who slander me.

(Psalms 62:7-8 NIV) My salvation and my honor depend on God ; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. {8} Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Selah

(Psalms 68:19-20 NIV) Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Selah {20} Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death.

(Psalms 73:26 NIV) My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

(Psalms 84:11-12 NIV) For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. {12} O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.

(Psalms 94:22 NIV) But the LORD has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.

(Psalms 116:5 NIV) The LORD is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.

(Psalms 144:15 NIV) Blessed are the people of whom this is true; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD.

(Proverbs 30:5 NIV) "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

(Isaiah 61:1-3 NIV) The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, {2} to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, {3} and provide for those who grieve in Zion-- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

(Matthew 12:28 NIV) But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

(Matthew 22:32 NIV) 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob' ? He is not the God of the dead but of the living."

(Mark 1:15 NIV) "The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!"

(Luke 7:28 NIV) I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he."

(Luke 10:9 NIV) Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God is near you.'

(Luke 16:16 NIV) "The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.

(Luke 17:21 NIV) nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."

(John 4:24 NIV) God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

(John 6:33 NIV) For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."

(Acts 10:34 NIV) Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism

(Romans 5:5 NIV) And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

(Romans 6:23 NIV) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(Romans 7:1 NIV) Do you not know, brothers--for I am speaking to men who know the law--that the law has authority over a man only as long as he lives?

(Romans 14:17 NIV) For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,

(1 Corinthians 1:9 NIV) God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

(1 Corinthians 4:20 NIV) For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.

(1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV) No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

(1 Corinthians 14:33 NIV) For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints,

(2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV) And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

(Galatians 6:7-8 NIV) Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. {8} The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

(Ephesians 4:24 NIV) and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

(Hebrews 4:12 NIV) For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

(Hebrews 11:16 NIV) Instead, they were longing for a better country--a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

(Hebrews 13:16 NIV) And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

(1 John 1:5 NIV) This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

(1 John 4:7-9 NIV) Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. {8} Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. {9} This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.

(1 John 4:16 NIV) And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.

(Revelation 21:3 NIV) And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.

[Poem] What life is...

Life is a big deal
So big you can't even feel
Tip of your fingers touching
Hugging its fullness been trying.

Life is a reflection
Of what we make out of it
No matter how we believe it will be
And how we believe it can be.

Life is an illusion
Of what in our mind we conceive
Whether we get ourselves into it
Or scream running out of it.

But You came to me with a lampstand
To shine the alley of once dark side
So I can travel the road you prepped up
Only for me where light doesn't run out.

It was blinding
So wonderfully blinding
The light You brought to my life
Promised living of no strife.

There's no one like You
No one else but You
Nobody deserve all my praise but You
All my love, I thank You.

[Blog] Pray with boldness

Have you asked something very expensive from your husband, friend, boyfriend or parents? Pretty hard huh? Yes, this is hard because we're kind of unsure whether it will be given to us or not. Rejection is hard to swallow. Most of the time, we have this kind of thinking towards God. When we pray, sometimes it translates to having unbelief. There is a hint of uncertainty in our prayer that God might want to give it or not.

Some of our prayers is about finances and this is where our prayers become weaker. We live in the world where resources are just everywhere. Institutions like banks can help us with this for a price. An interest of 3.5% monthly is whopping 42% for a year. However, in Malachi 3:10 it is written, "Bring the whole tithe to the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." See! Our Lord God is challenging us to test Him on this. He wants us to trust Him for He does best in this but we rather do things our way to make it convenient for us. Our God's business is not like this world's.

I am human and imperfect, we all are. We stumble, worry and sometimes have unbelief here and there. The past two weeks were a test of faith for me. I can see and feel that the people around me worry because of the current situation but God wants me to be still and be in all anticipation of His great work for me. I even once battled this out with Him and confessed about what I am seeing (as if He wouldn't...hehehe) that it is the reason why I worry. A lot of times I felt I struggled so much that if not for them, I wouldn't bother to have time to seek more of Him. Til one day I was watching Joyce Meyer and quoted a verse from the Bible saying that everything that does not come from faith is sin. (Romans 14:23b). Ouch! That hurts. Truly, His Word will convict us; it's like a double edged sword. This is a painful rebuke for anyone who believes and loves God. We read the good news, share it, have our quiet moments with Him still, sin kicks in. Go back to Him and repent about our unbelief of His power. He became poor so we become rich. He became sin so we can have salvation.

He said in John 14:13-14, "And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask anything in My Name and I will do it." This is a solid promise. A rock. Immovable. Sturdy ground. Strong foundation. Jesus is telling you to ask ANYTHING in His Name and it shall be given to you. Be bold in your prayers after all, we are His children. But lemme tell ya my brotha, there is an element of time here and I am talking about God's time not ours. His answers can be YES, NO or WAIT UP. In James 4:3 He said, "When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." Check our hearts and see what's in it that backs up our prayers. He may be a God of blessings and provisions but we must not forget that he also is a just God. A lot of times we are asked to wait a lil more for His plans are greater than ours so be patient. Let our flesh not get in the way so His blessings may be experienced in full. I encourage all of us to rekindle the relationship we once had with God and see how He will store so much for us that we will not have room enough for it. Let God be in control. Let Him be God above us all. Pray with boldness and patiently wait in all anticipation of His great plans for us.

God bless us all.

[Blog] Price tag

These days, almost everything has a price. You want a tv, price tagged. You want an iPhone, price tagged. You want a car, price tagged. Our needs and wants have tags attached to it if we want to bring them home. Sadly, a lot of people nowadays put a tag to themselves as well. This is real and real ugly.

People identify themselves on the things they carry with them. They believe that they earn respect and acceptance because "they belong." There are those who would go beyond their means just to be at the level of their friends' lifestyle. They will break the bank to sustain their so-called luxurios life but for how long? One day, they would see themselves empty handed and worse, no friends beside them. This is one of the tragic endings of a price tagged relationship. Everything is dispensable. Material things get out dated and would require cash for replacement so as their friendship - dispensable; replaceable.

Sometimes, people put a tag price at themselves and they cost very cheap. Dating these days costs something - dinner, gifts, movies - all of these have a price tagged to it. They all cost something. Sadly, their price tag is the total of these. Extremely, there are those whose tag price costs the unlimited cellphone service for a day. Morality's knock on the door couldn't be heard anymore because his suave moves sweeps your feet away. Worst, after they use you, they will never show up anymore.

We sometimes exchange our dignity for a temporary and fake happiness. This we prefer over waiting for what has been prepared for us. We often go for what we want rather than being still and patiently wait for what God has well thought out for us. A lot of times in my past but truly, God's plans are better than mine. They are more grand than what I have already orchestrated to materialize.

Let go and let God do what He does best. Let Him control your life; let Him take the wheel for He will give you beyond your needs and wants - His grace is enough, truly. Our redemption costs His flesh and blood. We cannot put a price tag to that.

[Blog] Stay hungry, stay foolish

Steve Jobs said this as he ended his speech in his 2005 Stanford University Commencement address. He said, "stay hungry, stay foolish." I thought of it as some kind of another American idiom but as I was thinking what was the real meaning of it, came a realization.

For me, the essence of everything he said in his speech was that we must not settle to just what we have but to keep looking til we find what is it that we love doing. However, he did not say to slack around and hop from one thing to another. What he wants to say is that we must keep propelling ourselves to soar greater heights. At the end of the day, what matters is that we love what we're doing for out of it is something wonderful after all. Then what is it about staying hungry and foolish to make us successful?

Have you ever felt hunger in your life? Or have you ever done something you consider as foolish? Well, I believe I have in so many points in my life. I have gone hungry and foolish literally but had some moments when it has also been an idiom to me. What really is it that we must go hunger and foolish about? Will it be worth it if we will be one? Stop. Before you even think of its disconnect, let's dig on to its possibility and impact to our lives.

Hunger is not always related to food. It could be for love, relationship, knowledge or even power. As flesh, our hunger for something is insatiable. Why did I say so? It is because if we're satisfied, we won't ask for more in another time. Having hunger for something new is normal to human beings. We did not stop at creating bicyles to travel the vast land but came up with airplanes to travel across the seas. We had that hunger then we create something beautiful out of it.

Have you made yourself look foolish in front of other people? How would you know that you looked like one? People tell us so we know we have been a fool. Again, influence played an important part in making us realize what kind of a fool we have become but that only because of people telling us that we are. On the hind sight, we believe that we are just doing good or even awesome until the world stops us because they think we are just not making sense at all.

I remember, people thought that it is impossible to land on the moon. It was kind of hard to understand specially with the technology back then. But out of foolishness of one's mind and the hunger to get that feel of stepping on the moon had Apollo 11 realizing all these things. Did Steve Jobs stop from being a college drop out and just bum around? If he did then the world wouldn't have the technology that our generation has. His story of ups and downs clearly showed how he hurddled the obstacles of his own life. Mark Zuckerberg did not stop til his brainchild - Facebook - is finally realized. The four corners of his classroom did not limit him with what he can have. Hence, he dreamt bigger.

Bottomline, we must be better than what we were yesterday. We must outwit ourselves after another good output. We must yearn for excellence for we worship God in everything that we put our hands on to. This blog speaks to me and convicts me at the same time. I may have done a lot of foolish and shameful things in the past but these must not stop me from standing up to pick up the pieces of my life again. I have been broken but He molds me like a potter's hand to make me whole once more. I may have not been excellent in so many things but our God deserves nothing but excellence so I will be.

Be God-conscious all the time, in everything that we do. All for His glory!

[Blog] I dream the dream...yet again

What was your childhood dream? If you have, do you clearly recall them? Me, I don't until a friend asked me what do I really wanna do in life. For two weeks, I kept on recalling what was my childhood dream. What I realized is that my original dream got drowned in my ambition. You probably may say that dreams and ambitions are the same - no, they are not. In my own opinion, dreams were made from an innocent heart - what you love doing - while ambitions were made because the world dictates stature to exist - fame and wealth.

I did not say that you should not have any ambition in life for having one is totally awesome. This is something that I owe my parents with. They instilled in me the value of education so I can land to a good job to live a good life. Again, there is nothing wrong with that. The trouble with it is, most of the time, we forget what we really want in life because it has been altered due to influences. We conform with the world's standard so the dream has slowly drifted away.

After that brief conversation with Patti, I thought I can shrug it off easily instead, it lingered for two weeks. On the up side, it gave me time to seek God to help me relive my chilhood dream. I said to Him, "I want to sing and be with people." One day after another, things are getting clearer to me. Last Tuesday helped me realize things. After our victory group, Trici asked me if I'd like to watch Tim Cada at The Fort Strip. I went with her and there, I experienced my first time to sing with a band. I told Trici that I was happy that I did it and that it was my first time as well. I may be seen singing in church more than twice a month but that is different from a regular gig.

I felt so elated in doing so and couldn't wipe that smile off my face on my way home. Then something enliven my inner desire. I felt like an old feeling is alive once again. I did not realize it til the next morning - that was my childhood dream. I really want to sing in front of a crowd and I know that it was something I would love doing. Whew! That was a long journey to the past to realize that it was my dream.

Finally, the once a childhood dream is relived by a grown lady. The years may have made me aged but this dream never got old in time. So what's next for me? I presented this to God and will wait for what He wants me to do with my dream. Being still is the best thing I can do for now to keep the dream alive in me while in the season of waiting. Let's just wait and see.

[Blog] HIS vast Grace

Grace is a nice word but if we go deeper to its meaning beyond the word itself then you'd realize how huge it is. I associate grace with God for He is the best giver of such to every one and I mean you and me and the rest of the world. But let us define GRACE first. It is something given to us which we don't deserve. Can you think of something you received that you feel you don't deserve at all? Imagine, you were at the Oprah Winfrey Show and on that day she gave away brand new cars for each of her audience. Do you think you deserve it considering that it was your first time to have heard about her and her show? I'm pretty sure you'd have tears of joy but God can give better than that. Something that will sustain you.

Don't you think it's awesome to know that you can see the sun shining in the morning after bidding the moon good night? If you do, have you wondered why is this so? It's something no one can fathom. It's God's grace. He chose you and I to witness this wonder. How the sun dries up the dew of dawn and lights up the once alley swallowed up by darkness last night. Ain't that cool? The air that we breathe; our mobility; our intellect - these are just a few of the things God gave that we never ever deserve of having. We have these because He chose to. On the other hand, if He is not a great God, He would have chosen otherwise.

His greatness has been known for having a calendar of His week of creation. Even at that time, He knew that you and I will exist and that we will fall short of His grace but His mind has the best of our interest. He created night and day so we can have a time to rest after a day's work and so on with the rest of His creation. Even after Adam and Eve disobeyed God, thus the birth of original sin, He still wanted to keep us around Him by redeeming us. God sent His only begotten Son to pay for our sins so we will not be eternally separated from Him. He wants a relationship with us after all.

Now, who can say that we deserve all of these? God got His hands dirty to create us out of mud and breathe life through us. Adam and Eve may have committed a sin which rippled even in our times but Jesus paid for our sins even before our existence. He paid for our past, present and future sins by shedding of His blood. And not just that, He made sure that as He goes, The Counselor (Holy Spirit) was left with us to help us grow in our journey. All these things will not be possible if not for His grace. There are so many things that I am fired up to share about grace but this is enough for the day. On the other hand, may His grace be enough for us all. God bless us.

[Blog] Our purpose on HIM

What is your purpose? Of your existence? Of your life? It sounds easy to answer right but it really isn't. But what is purpose really? As per the dictionary, the purpose of something is the reason for which it is made or done. So what is the reason why we were made? Sometimes when things don't go the way we want it, we question why did God create us when we don't know our purpose or reason of existence. But did we ask God to reveal His purpose in our lives? We oftentimes miss this step - asking God.

When we say asking, it is not simply just telling Him and that's it. We must earnestly seek Him and His wisdom so His plans may be known to us. The problem with us is that we want to get things our way that's why we end up tired, weary and worn out just to get to where we want to be. There are even times when we end the day frustrated because we want to stretch more of us yet it ain't working still. Why do we get frustrated in the first place? I may say because where we are currently in is not what God intended and planned for us.

Recently, I was asked by a friend: "what do you really want to do?" It mummed me for a bit while. Yes, I was mummed because I dunno what to say. I told her, if not for my responsibility, I will live a simple life. Yes, I have big dreams but living a simple and decent life that is pleasing to God is not bad either. This is also our society's sickness - heirarchy. We tend to look at ourselves down because we are a person of no title. No tag at the end of our names such as MD, RN, EdD etc. But these should not define who we are for if we are stripped off it, then we would feel worthless.

The challenge right now is how long would we hold on to Him til His purpose is known to us? With the world's demands and pressure, I would say that it is not far from reality that our faith sometimes gets shaky whenever our dreams frustrate us. But how can this be avoided? Be still, pray and remain in great expectation of God's revelation of Himself and His purpose for you. Until then, are you ready? Will you ever be ready for His revelation? This is not an easy task to do. Waiting for something you do not know what it is and when is it coming.

This indeed is hard esp if we don't anchor our dreams and heart's desires on God. I am not perfect nor I pose to be righteous but this is a confession of how I have lived a life based on the world's standard. I may have episodes of unbelief in God's power that things will get better in His time which results to impatience then frustration. I may have slipped from God's grip at one point in time but His other hand catches me so my future will still be secured in Him. This God I am boasting about does not get tired of planning for each of us even before our birth. His plans are made perfect for us. Be still. There is something grand for us. In great expectation of His plans.

[Blog] MH Solo: Digging in the dirt

Art can be interpreted the way the audience view it. There's no right or wrong with it - only eyes, emotions and interpretations. In one of my conversations with Heidi, she said that art intends to arouse you (well, artistically) for it is the culmination of minutes of walking and stop overs from one to another.

I can say I am a visual artist but I am more inclined to stage. Every once in a while, I go to museums and galleries to see what's out there but I can be seen more often lining up for The Madz's concerts or stage plays. Just like today, I am at Rockwell to see Martin Honasan's gallery. I was looking forward to see his gallery because I like portraits and I would say, he did a good job at that.

Before these were hanged here, I was able to see his works in their house. I believe I have only been there 3 times and his works caught my attention already. As I mentioned earlier, I like portraits but I particularly like faces for this is where expressions are seen. But among the gallery of his works, the DETHORNED is what I love the most and this is the only work he has that focused on a hand.

True that I said I like faces but this one outshined the rest IMHO. I like how he intricately brushed one person's hand - the finger tips, the nails and the french tip, palm lines and the lines on the wrist. I said to myself: "this person really has a nice hand." But what really caught my attention is that red rose on the palm. I know that it is not just about a rose seated on the palm; I know there's more to it. The painting says something about Jesus. I thought to myself that the red rose is Jesus' blood and the hand was His flesh/body piereced on the cross.

True enough, on top of the painting, there is a verse from Isaiah 53:5 "But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our inequities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed." Wow! That painting was worth minutes of simply looking at it, trying to feel what the message was all about and admiring that person's hand. The card on top of it and verse definitely helped me understand what really was Martin's message to his audience. I may say that his art is a blessing from God and to his audience.

The gallery is a good 5-minute walk for passers by like me but if we stop for a bit while and try to feel what the artist's message really is, we would know that it goes beyond the canvass - it is more than the lines, the color and the texture. As for me, indeed, it was a success for he was able to make me think and feelings aroused after I view one work to another.

I may not be able to grab one for myself right now but if finances wouldn't be an issue, I will definitely bring DETHORNED home with me tonight. Kudos to you, Kuya Marts! Looking forward on your next solo.

God bless you!

[Blog] Teachable moments

"Every moment is a teachable moment." This still sounds fresh to me as Sandra Ratilla preached on 5/8/2011 during the 5pm service for Mother's day. I may not be able to remember everything that she said but that statement stuck in my head for months.

In life, whenever things seem to go wrong, we tend to get disheartened or worst, ballistic. Neither of the two will help you mature and grow as an individual. One person does not necessarily have to be a Christian to understand what I am saying. It's pretty much straightforward and there's no room for a lot of interpretation. The statement says a lot things to us no matter how much we try to deny it. Consider the following:

If you fail your exam, it does not directly translate that you're dumb or what. Exams are created to have a knwoledge check but if you fail to review then the outcome might also be a failure.
Lesson: Listen, understand and review

You just had a fight with your dad because you have gone home late once more. You went out with your friends then your dad talked about it and you got mad for picking on you. He is not picking on you, he wants to make sure that you are safe.
Lesson: Honor and follow you father and go home early.

You had a fight with an officemate because of a simple misunderstanding. You said this, she said that and both of you took offense of each other's words.
Lesson: Listen, do not interrupt and confirm your understanding.

On your way to work, you were caught in a Heavy traffic and you know you are running late. When you tried to overtake the car in front of you, your car was hit on the rear by another vehicle and you got mad so badly.
Lesson: Wake up early to avoid this.

You had a huge fight with you boyfriend and ended spliting up that night. He complained that you have been very intruding of his privacy and that you don't trust him so he called it quits.
Lesson: Anchor your relationships in God and He will bless them.

These are just a few of things that can be considered teachable moments. You may not agree with me on this but surely, there is a lesson in everything that happens to us. Let us not wait til we're grey and wrinkled up to say that we have learned from our past. Truly, the wisdom of life's lessons can shed light to the path of the succeeding generations.

With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, let every moment of their lives be their teacher but we should stand accountable of each other to get a better view of life. I encourage you to not just open your eyes for what He is teaching us but to also have an expectant heart for what He can do to better our lives here on earth.

God bless us all.

[Blog] One victorious day!

Today is the 1st of a number of 3-day mall sale and they are all strategically located where traffic is very prevalent. So let us define TRAFFIC. It is the output of this mega weekend sale. (wink) If you happen to be in EDSA earlier this evening, you can hardly see vehicles moving and I bet, you weren't in a good mood just like yours truly.

I planned to go to Rockwell to view a friend's gallery but thought of postponing it for tomorrow instead. My prior commitment was at The Fort and ended a little past 9 o'clock. After a couple of steps from the building, there I took a light dinner across the street just so that my focus will be the gallery then go home. Well, that was the plan. After my dinner, I went ahead to the bus stop then reached EDSA almost 20 minutes after.

Rockwell was still part of my plan when I saw EDSA - 'twas still crowded. I did a time check and decided on going there tomorrow instead and that was final. Why am I blogging this? Nada. This is the very first time I have spoken of how my day went. I find it cool because this is another victorious day for me and I have to remind myself (thru blogging) how God made it perfect for me.

Anyway, I bless all of you a good day ahead. Be wise with your spending for it is just the 2nd day of these mall sale. God bless us.

[Poem] HE changed me

Your love surrounds me
With people You put around me
Gives a feeling of security
No condemnation and eye of scrutiny.

Your kindness and mercy I ponder
In my heart leaves nothing in wonder.
You assured of Your slowness to anger
So I won't dig a hole of danger.

God I love everything that You are
You are everything set by par.
Such height no one can level
Not even a pile of sand and gravel.

Lord thank You for all of these
You took a heart of once a beast.
As You change my life as hard as stone
With a new me of flesh and bone.

[Poem] I am glee for Thee

Lord I lift my head up
To the heavens I raise my prayers up.
With my heart to You I shall sing,
All for You I will bring.

Listen to my voice oh God
WIth ears open, hear me, my Dad.
As Your child coming before You
With joy in my heart only for You.

I come running with glee
Towards You I bring indeed.
I beseech You, my God, my Father
Always leave me in awe of Your wonder.

[Poem] My Gracious God

Joyful as I am Lord
I am so filled by Your word.
With living water I'm refreshed,
As my thirst gets quenched.

Bread of life as You are
Keeps me going so far.
Indeed in You no sorrow
So I won't worry for tomorrow.

Seek only Your Kingdom
And so Your will be done.
This You said to Your people
So we'll enjoy Your grace in full.

Dad, You are so faithful
In awe of daily grace, I am full.
I fix my eyes only to You
With all praises, my heart's on You.

[Blog] The BIBLE says it all

While the world says, to follow your heart
The Bible says, "Guard it for everything you do flows from it." (Proverbs 4:23)

While the world says, you are ugly,
The Bible says, "You are wonderfully made by God" (Psalm 139:14) and "God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him." (Genesis 1:27)

While the world says, it's okay to answer back to our parents so long as we have a point,
The Bible says, "Honor your father and mother' and 'Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death." (Matthew 15:4)

While the world says, it's okay to have pre marital sex,
The Bible says, "Your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit who is in you. Honor God with your bodies" (1 Corinthians 6:19a and 20b)

While the world says, it's okay to live together before getting married,
The Bible says, "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." (Hebrews 13:4)

While the world says, it's okay to have extramarital relationships,
The Bible says, "...each man should have sexual relations with his own wife, and each woman with her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband." (1 Corinthians 7: 2-3)

While the world says, "do not get mad, get even"
The Bible says, "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." (Matthew 5:44)

While the world says, you have to do everything to get rich even if it takes hours in the office,
The Bible says, "Do not wear yourself out to get rich;do not trust your own cleverness." (Proverbs 23:4)

While the world says, do good deeds so you can get to heaven,
The Bible says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

These are just a few of things that the world contradicts with God's will. The world will mislead you so be guided by the light that only comes from God. However, we must not forget that someone paid for our sins by dying on the cross and only Jesus can save us from our sins. In Him, we are new creations - the old has gone, the new has come. GOD Bless us all!

[Poem] YOU and i

I said...

Are You there?
Are You actually there?
Why I see nothing but sky?
Shouldn't You be within my sight?

Do You hear me?
Do You listen to me?
In my cry and my plea,
Do You just want me to flee?

Why can't I feel You?
Why say near me and no You?
Why people believe You and Your power,
When there's no one at the tower?

YOU say...

I AM here.
Always around you and near.
Didn't I say that you walk in faith
And not plainly by sight?

I heard you my child,
Every word you said and cried.
Wait, believe in faith
For time is your friend and mate.

I AM around
And my love for you abounds.
What people say cannot make you feel better
Because only I AM the source of love and more.

I say now...

His love warmed my heart so cold
And cleansed me as white as a snow.
His love remains unchanged forever
For He is God not bound by time ever.

"I love you, my child"
Is what God engraved in my heart.
My soul delights in the Lord,
As I say and write every word.

[Poem] To YOU all my praise

Let me worship You, Lord
Let my heart beat for You
That my mouth utter each word
Of praises deserved by a Mighty One like You.

Your greatness I will sing
With a heart of no shame
For only love that You bring
To a world where sin is fame.

You God are slow to anger
And You condemn the sin not the sinner
For Your love is immeasurable
Only You are willing to give and able.

My God, my dad
You never fail to make me glad
As promises You gave in Your word
Abound us with such grace to the world.

We exalt You, oh Lord
We're empowered by Your word.
The highest seat and regards You deserve
In our hearts Your name is carved.

[Poem] Un Dios

Woke
Walked
Talked
Broke.

Stopped
Looked
Paused
Tossed.

Up
Down
Tear
Ripped.

Lost
God
Found
I.

Light.
Day.
New.
Grace.

Fear
Hope
Love
Lord.

Huge
Big
Great
YOU.

[Poem] I bleed my heart to You

Oh God I ask for forgiveness
Let my heart go boast with less
Of myself I speak and soar
But You shall I exalt all more.

Let Your Spirit come upon me
So I can be guided indeed
With only the light that comes from Thee
That tears down the wall of darkness and greed.

Oh God please reign in me
Reign in my soul and in my deeds
For You are the one who can calm me
In distress Your word feeds.

[Poem] My Lord is my refuge

I walked barefooted
Feeling the waters that soothed
The tired life I had gone through
With life pages I already threw.

Friends I have gathered overtime
From people who gave me their time
Who made me feel loved and secured
To not bother if I would get stirred.

One day I woke up with fear
As the people I thought were sincere
Who promised to stand by me
No matter the situation may be.

I heard that loud sound
Of something I did not know would abound.
I ran towards where they are
But there found the doors all barred.

I feared for my life
I fear I was all in strife
I run like nowhere to go
Like I feel I was ready to go.

I sat down and thought for a while.
I didn’t even know how to smile.
I could not stop panicking
That all I resorted to do is praying.

Then a soft voice I heard from above
“You are my child that I love.
I will keep you safe and warm
No matter everywhere there’s harm.”

I stopped and got startled
Like I was put aside to get saddled.
Should I trust the voice I just heard
And go follow like I’m part of an herd?

He spoke again to me
Through my heart my Lord oh Thee
I thought I have been forsaken
Left alone in the dark I was shaken.

Indeed you are my rock
Let no one give you one mock.
For You are my Lord, my refuge,
Your reign in me and earth is huge.

[Poem] HE is my God

As the day approaches its end,
And the sun sets at the serene sky,
I come to You with my knees bend,
To bless You oh Most High.

Every song I sing,
Brings new life, new breed.
I see death lost its sting,
As You gave Your life for me indeed.

I am at awe of You,
Of the love You have shown me.
No exact words to describe You
But Your greatness above everything in me.

Reign in me, oh Lord.
I ask You to lead and reign in my life.
As I celebrate You and Your word,
Touch me and bring goodness to my life.

My God, I surrender my life to Thee.
I lift up anything that contradicts Your will.
Let Your lamp shine on my way and in me,
So in Your presence I can be still.

[Poem] Speak to me, Lord

Speak to me,
Speak to me, oh Lord.
Let Your love run through me,
In my heart You speak to me, oh Lord.

My eyes and ears are open
So ready for Your divine word.
Though I come to You less than often,
Still You give Your love as my reward.

Illuminate Yourself in me,
Let Your light shine within me.
Let the darkness in me be gone
As Your work at the cross is done.

I thank You with all my life.
I give glory to You my God.
Though I lived my life in strife,
You are there to liberate me, oh God.

I will forever praise You.
I will exalt You and only You.
For You deserve all the praises that I sing
For it is You, the love that I bring.

[Poem] YOU, Oh Lord

As I write this poem for You
Allow me to pour my heart to You.
Let the words glorify You always
In every situation, in so many different ways.

I stand and breathe everyday
With the grace You give every way.
No matter how hard the things may be
You are there to set me free.

What You have shown to me
As You bled for us to see
The beauty of love there is unbounded
That even a huge wall may be astounded.

You are greater than anything
Bigger than what to them is everything.
With love I declare to world
It's You whom I serve, Oh Lord.

[Poem] The God of Greatness

Questions just popped in my head
Those were the things I did not dare to think of.
Read as the words are placed in each verse
And listen as my heart out pours to You.
What shall I do tomorrow?
Will I survive another day under stress?
Why life is too short that he died so young?
Why am I still single?
Will I get married and have my own kids?
Why do I worry so much?
Lord, listen to me,
Your child comes to You to seek for an answer.
It was I oh Lord
Who feels so unheard.
You spoke to me, "My child,
Cast all your cares unto Me
And I will sustain you.
Have faith My child
For favors shall come to those who seek My face."
I am at awe like a child waiting
Just waiting for the favors her father promised her to bring.
If I have an earthly father who can make this happen
What more can my Heavenly Father bless me with?
As I said, He will bless me and increase my faith in Him.
For there is nothing in this world that my God cannot do
I am very sure that the impossible is POSSIBLE to Him.
But for whatever there is that He has planned for me,
I am keeping my faith in Him
And believes that He wants nothing but the best for me.
